Happy almost weekend, everybody! Well, this is the first weekend we will be home in awhile. Unfortunately the football game is on the Big 10 Network again, which we don't get on Comcast. You have to have a dish to see the game. Mike is bummed about that, but he keeps holding out hope that Comcast will work something out with them soon.

Last night I took my friend Alexis to my yoga class. She hadn't practiced in awhile but she's very fit so she did fine. It was a harder class than usual, and I'm sure we'll both be sore today, but it was great. I definately need to build some leg strength back up.

Tonight she and I and our other girlfriend are headed into downtown Philly for a little late night fun. Not sure where we're going yet and I guess I'm driving so my imbibing will be limited. Mike will have to manage Alex on his own for awhile, but Alex hasn't been too bad the past few nights. He seems kind of stuck in the habit of waking to eat at 2:30am though, which at his age he shouldn't still need. I'm trying to be patient, I swear.

Not sure what we're going to do today, looks like rain and my mom's still pretty sick. Might be a TV overdose day so mommy can get some work done.

Not too much new here. Mike went to Ann Arbor for the Michigan game, which we lost. Boo hoo. I am a super awesome wife for letting him ditch me for three days on a weekend. I hung out with his mom instead which was cool. My mom was at the beach, as usual, but then she got really sick. She was supposed to babysit this morning so I could go to a sales meeting, but since she was sick an awesome friend from my Bible study came instead. Meeting was good, but I'm feeling a tad stressed about the work situation. Very hard to find time to fit it in, especially with Nathan not napping.

Went to yoga on Thursday. It was awesome but of course I was sore the next couple days. Seeing Mark and Jen was nice too. Really want to work out more but logistics don't allow it yet.

Still need more sleep. Sometimes he sleeps from 10 to 3, which is very nice, but then sometimes he'll be awake from 3 to 5am, which sucks. My goal is a 10-4am stretch, then right back down again till 7am. That would ROCK. I can dream, can't I?

One Might Think

That's why my mom has spent more time at my house than her own since she retired. Ok, that might be a slight exaggeration, but only slight. And that's partially why we've seen more of Mike's parents since Alex was born than possibly the whole year before that. This weekend will be my third weekend in a month in Williamsport at my inlaws. The one and the last were last minute decisions. Why?

Penn State football.

Yes, the Penn State verses Michigan game is away this weekend. And it's televised on regular TV. But lucky me, my husband got offered tickets to the game...in Michigan. And his uncle wants to go too. So Mike asked if he could ditch me for three days. I almost said "No way, Jose", but he suggested that since he will be driving right past his parents house anyway, I could come along and invade my inlaws' house again. I'd certainly rather do that then stay home all by myself for three days. And if I didn't know that my MIL would love seeing the kids again, I'd never impose. But that's the plan, so off we go again.

I'm happy to report that Alex appears to be 100% healthy again. He has fallen back into a comfortable eating and sleeping routine, and I have started some sleep training which is going very well so far. He seems to be a quick learner. Granted, I was up with him from 2:30 to 4:30 last night, but it didn't bother me to much and in the end he put himself to sleep. Just needed a little crying to burn off some energy.

The past few days have been really good, despite Mike being gone. We went to the mall on Monday and I got some great deals on fall clothes for Nathan at Children's Place. Oh, and I forgot to mention that I hit up Old Navy last Saturday and had so much fun trying on clothes that I bought quite a few things for me. This is dangerous. The fun is because I am still shrinking and I'm now in even my skinniest pre-preggo clothes and haven't even started exercising yet. Breastfeeding burns mega calories!

So today was my first MOPS meeting of the year and it went fabulously. I have so many friends there and everyone was so concerned for Alex. There are tons of new babies! My group seems great so far. I had a wonderful big breakfast too.

I'm also back at work, at least a little bit each day. I'm even going to sales meeting next week. Thank God for my mom retiring and living so close :)

Sick Baby

I haven't posted since Sunday because I've been in the hospital all week with Alex. Monday evening he came down with a fever. In babies younger than 3 months, any fever means a trip to the emergency room, mainly to rule out or treat for life-threatening meningitis. I had a friend who's baby had no other symptoms than a 100.7 fever and ended up with the worst case meningitis. Fortunately she had a hunch, acted fast, and they caught it before there was any apparent damage to his hearing or brain. Because of her experience, I acted fast and my pediatrician sent me to Bryn Mawr's ER at 11:00 at night.

They tortured my poor sick baby, taking blood, cathaterizing him, chest x-ray, even a spinal tap. Then I sat in a hard back chair with nothing to eat till 4am when they finally had a room ready in the pediatrics wing for us. After another hour of answering the same questions for the third time and hooking Alex up to monitors and IVs, I finally fell asleep for an hour or two in the tiny cot in his room.

I stayed by his side all through Tuesday, Wednesday and half of Thursday before they let us go and chalked it up to some unknown virus. He's still not quite himself, but he's on the mend. I'm just happy not to be surrounded by those same four walls anymore. It's pretty tough to sleep in a hospital, even when you're not the one who's sick. Because I'm breastfeeding, they did a good job of trying to keep me fed and tended to. The nurses were absolutely fantastic and the doctors were not bad either.

We decided to head up to Mike's parents place again this weekend because the Penn State game is on the Big Ten network which is not carried by Comcast, and they have a dish. Priorities, you know.

Go State!

Ok so Penn State kicked some serious Catholic booty yesterday :) Considering Michigan's pitiful performance, Kirk Herbstreet says we could go all the way and I, for one, am a believer. Alex is too.

Hey, I got four straight hours of sleep last night from 11 to 3. Wow. Yeah, I'm still tired. And Mike leaves tomorrow till Friday night...yuk. I'm trying to figure out how I'm gonna go through a whole long bedtime routine with Nathan during Alex's fussiest time of the evening. We shall see.

Oh, and Nathan doesn't seem to want to nap much anymore. If he keeps that up he's going to win himself four more hours at school a day. Nobody really wants that.

I just saw my celebrity crush, Dave Grohl of the Foo Fighters, on the Mtv VMAs. Even with scraggly hair, he is hot. His extreme talent makes him hot, and if you know much about him, you know how talented he is.

In other news, Mike's Penn State blog is superhot. As annoying as it is that he spends so much time on it, he gets like 2000 hits a day now. Legitimate news organizations are interviewing him before the games. He was written up as the number one best PSU football website in Penn Stater Magazine. Check him out at BlackShoeDiaries.com.

I'm back in hardcore shopping mode and I've still got a few inches of baby belly to lose yet. If I could just get some rest I'd be ready for exercise. Yawn.

Great weekend. Tailgating was fun, we grilled up pancakes, sausage, and hash browns...yum. It was freezing when we left the house at 5am but it got really hot when the sun came up. So hot I had to shed my #7 jersey and I got a pretty bad sunburn. Game was a total blowout, Penn State beating Florida International 59-0. Almost more exciting to the fans in the stadium was when they kept announcing that Michigan was losing to Appalacian State, not even in the same division. The cherry on top was seeing Notre Dame lose badly to Georgia Tech.

The rest of the weekend was very relaxing too, hanging out with Mike's family at their riverlot. Both kids were angels, except of course when it came to Alex sleeping longer at night....not yet. He did really well last night though, I managed to sleep from 11-3, and 3:45-6. That's some kind of record.
